| Have Fun at the Funfair!
What exactly is a funfair? Basically, a funfair is a smaller sized fair. Most amusement parks or carnivals are larger and have specific grounds. A funfair is a unique fair that travels around and mostly involves rides, food booths, and games. They tend to follow events that draw large crowds of people. People go to funfairs for the obvious reason… to have fun! There are many thrills to be found as well as a whole selection of delicious foods to indulge in. There are rides for all ages, from roller coasters to merry-go-rounds. The rides may not be as extravagant or as numerous as you would find in an amusement park, because of the traveling, but funfairs will most times include one or two larger rides along with many novelty rides. Aside from the rides, funfairs offer other forms of entertainment, such as slideshows or games. Before rides were available, sideshows were what most funfairs were filled with. The sideshows varied from funfair to funfair. There were wild animal shows, freak shows, plus much more. It is the same way with games. There are a variety of games offered at a funfair. Most are simple games that are designed to stump players, making it difficult and oftentimes very unlikely to win. Games such as putting a ball in a basket or through a hoop, only the basket is very springy at the bottom, or the hoop is slightly warped. Some games are target games with air rifles or darts to hit objects and win a prize. Though some of the games are difficult, more recently there have been more family oriented games. This kept families coming back again and again. Prizes for the winners of games vary from a live goldfish to a furry stuffed animal. With so much fun to be had, funfairs should be visited when they come to your town. Throw a dart or ride a Ferris-wheel. Join the fun! |
